Convert Paper Checks into
Electronic Drafts at the Point-Of-Sale!!

Check Truncation is the changing of a personal paper check into an electronic draft at the Point-Of-Sale. The check becomes an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and is processed through the Automated Clearing House (ACH). The ACH is a federally regulated electronic payment network used by 95% of the country's financial institutions, including the Federal Reserve.

The Electronic Check Process:
1.

Customer presents merchant with

paper check at the Point-Of-Sale.
2.

Check is run through the check reader

which reads MICR data and sends the

information in to the credit card

terminal.
3.

Credit card terminal sends data to a

national verification database.
4.

Verification service authorizes or

rejects the check writer.
5.

If approved, a duplicate EFT

authorization is printed for the

customer to sign.
6.

Customer’s paper check is stamped

ACH processed and returned to the

customer.
7.

The check files are processed through

the ACH.
8.

The merchant’s account is credited in

24 hours.
9.

The printer used in the process

produces a read out of all transactions.


	The paper check has been converted to an electronic draft. The ACH will transfer the funds electronically. The funds will be transferred into the merchant account in 24 hours. NSF check information will be reported to the merchant on a daily basis. The fee is very low on NSF’s since they are electronically presented. We can automatically represent the NSF checks and collect both the face and the fee… All of which is turned over to the merchant.
